ABOUT US

Hope Springs SDA Church of Ocala, Florida, USA, is a welcoming body of a God-loving and people-embracing community. Whose aims and aspirations are inclined to share the blessed gospel of Our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Humankind upon the face of the earth is now living in the manifestation of the fulfillment of Scripture. Judging by the historical and biblical past, every prediction made by many prophets relative to future events before the birth of our Lord and Savior had turned out to be correct. Countless multitude in the days of Noah would have discovered that judgment is absolute. Those prophecies relating to global events in our time are transparently clear. As a church body, we agree with the Scripture of 2nd Peter Chapter 3:9, which points out that. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” We endeavor to engage with our fellow members of humanity in the interest of sharing this gospel of hope with those who are experiencing a sense of hopelessness. Please join us on this platform so we may partake in a hopeful discourse related to the word of God and His kingdom to come.

CHURCH HISTORY

The history of Hope Springs S.D.A Church is one of miracles, of sacrifice, of determination, of love & devotion, all of these not uninterrupted by cruel attempts of the evil one. However, the Lord blessed this church remarkly. “To God Be The Glory” for the idea which resulted in the transfer of 45 members from the Ocala S.D.A Church to become Silver Spring Shores S.D.A Church within the Florida Conference. The first services were held on Sabbath, August 10, 1985, at the First Baptist Church on Silver Road in “the Shores” under the leadership of retired Pastor C.C Weiss, Elders LeRoy Adams and Dwight Turner. Plans to search for a site on which to build a sanctuary began with the organization of the church body. A donation of $500 by a member was the nucleus of an overflow of blessings, including sizeable donations by Bro. Bob Colvin who gave a tenth of the proceeds of the sale of his boat, Pastor Hay and his congregation from New York, other well-wishers, and members of this church who contributed generously and consistently over the years. Until rental at the First Baptist Church was terminated in 1986, Sabbath afternoons were spent in Bible Study at an “upper room” at the Community Center where the young people also devoted much time in singing, in Adventist Youth Society programs and some Pathfinder activities. Sis. Leonora Powell and her late husband, Alphonso, hosted prayer and business meeting at their home. After relocating to the Missionary Baptist Church in Candler, a most spectacular miracle occurred. Pastor Malcolm Gordon, then President of Florida Conference visited with information that a loan from the Conference was not forthcoming. No one present at that meeting can forget the uninhibited outburst of joy when Bro. Leroy Adams announced that on the same day, he received checks for $7000, the amount needed at that point in time. On June 20, 1987, a police-escorted motorcade from Candler led to 1345 Pine Road for the opening of the sanctuary built by Bro. Randy Smith, Maranatha volunteers, and members of this church. God’s blessings came by way of church growth, continued sacrificial giving, the sale of truckloads of citrus fruit, fund drives, and donations, towards the mortgage burning ceremony held on August 29, 1993. Through the ensuing years, this church supported a small elementary school until 1995; increased Pathfinder activity to the point of distinctions in statewide competitions; sponsored Vacation Bible Schools; hosted many crusades by local and guest preachers; installed a satellite system; established computer services; maintained a van; and also established vibrant Singles, Women’s and Men’s Ministries, in addition to pre-existing services. Pastors who provided leadership after Pastor Weiss were LeRoy Albers, Glen Holland, Wayne Niemeyer, Creaton Francis whose dream was fulfilled in the building of the Agape Center; Matthew Christo, Reynold Maxwell and Mark Reid during whose administration the church name was changed to Hope Springs. Pastor Fritznel Bruno currently leads the flock. Most of the foundation members are now asleep in Jesus, but this church continues to be a “light on the hill”.
